Beam Array Fire at Will icon (Federation)

This ability applies to both Beam Arrays and Dual Beam Banks. A standard beam attack cycle is four attacks against a single target. After activation, all beam weapons will attack the selected target (if within its arc, otherwise a random target) and a second random target within their firing arc and attack them five times each (for a total of 10 beam attacks per cycle). The effect will apply to any firing cycle that begins during the ability's duration. If only one target is present, only five attacks are performed. This ability is effective in delivering sustained fire against a few ships or for taking out fighter swarms and targetable projectiles.

  • Your Beam Weapons have 50 less accuracy rating
Rank II: Lieutenant 30 sec

Upgrades your beam weapons for 10 seconds. Your Beam weapons hit two random targets per pulse and pulses five times instead of the normal four. For this duration, your beam weapons also have the following effects:

  • Your Beam Weapons deal 85% of their normal damage with each shot.
  • Your Beam Weapons have 40 less accuracy rating
Rank III: Lt Commander 30 sec

Upgrades your beam weapons for 10 seconds. Your Beam weapons hit two random targets per pulse and pulses five times instead of the normal four. For this duration, your beam weapons also have the following effects:

  • Your Beam Weapons deal 90% of their normal damage with each shot.
  • Your Beam Weapons have 30 less accuracy rating
