Basically the Tholian Web Cannon is the Thalaron Pulse's more effective and yet unpopular cousin.

Revision as of 00:10, 6 July 2014

Not too much is known about the Tholian Web Cannon, only the Tholian Tarantula Dreadnought will utilize it, sometimes they never even make the attempt, other times, they will immediate charge it as soon as they enter combat, some players have even reported that they use it multiple times, they often do it when an Enemy ship is in-front of them, Rarely (if ever) using it otherwise, it is Strikingly Similar to the Scimitar's Thalaron Pulse, Even the Tarantula's Forward Cone Arc mirrors the Scimitar's Forward Cone Arc almost completely in terms of range, Except the Web Cannon itself takes a MUCH Shorter time to charge up (5 Seconds, where the Scimitar's thalaron Weapon takes 12 seconds to charge), and any hostile vessels that get hit will be trapped in a Small Tholian Web, almost completely disabled and taking a considerable DoT, The Immobilizing Web effect lasts approx. 15 seconds.

It is noticeably flashy (and, albeit briefly awesome looking) whenever a Scimitar Thalaron Weapon and Tarantula Web Cannon are aimed at each-other during their respective charge-up sequences, although the likely scenario is that (guaranteed scenario if they were activated simultaneously) the Web Cannon would strike the Scimitar charging the Thalaron weapon, thus completely interrupting the Thalaron Charge-up.

Scimitar Players with the 3-console Scimitar Bundle Console Set Equipped: Don't try to race the Tarantula unless you want to see some god-like visual effects for a few seconds before being disabled and likely destroyed, "Brace for Impact" and "Secondary Shields" can suppress some of the damage, but you will still be disabled if hit.

The only notable way to evade this attack while still in it's firing arc is to use a powerful Phase-shifting ability, such as the Kar'Fi Phase Shift Generator, or the Undine Fluidic Phase Decoupler.
