The Aegis Technological Research is a set of three items that are available from high-end crafting. They give the option to change the ship appearance. Unlike set items from the Reputation System, like the Assimilated Borg Technology set items, these bind on equip. The set items are:
Note: Stats are given for those of a Tier 5 cruiser (59% bonus over Tier 1 cruiser with standard shields). The tier and type of ship will change the shield capacity and engine's flight turn rate.
Aegis Deflector Array
The Aegis Deflector Array is obtained from crafting, with the following requirements:
- 1,500 General Research Skill
- 1 Schematic: Deflector Array
- 60 Exobiological Data
- 1 Dekyon Particle Trace
- 1 Metreon Particle Trace
- 1 Trianium Particle Trace
- 15 Common Unreplicateable Materials (12 During crafting event)
- 18 Uncommon Unreplicateable Materials (15 During crafting event)
Game Description
A team of scientists developed the Aegis Deflector Array based on research both on recovered weapons from enemies such as the Borg and the collaborative efforts of scientists from many allied species. The Aegis Deflector Array provides a variety of improvements to your shields, providing protection to your vessel along with the standard benefits of an Deflector Array.
Aegis Hyper-Impulse Engines
- (Efficient at High Power Levels)
The Aegis Hyper-Impulse Engines is obtained from crafting, with the following requirements:
- 1,500 General Research Skill
- 1 Schematic: Impulse Engine
- 60 Tachyon Wave Signature
- 1 Anyon Particle Trace
- 1 Chronometric Particle Trace
- 1 Methogenic Particle Trace
- 15 Common Unreplicateable Materials (12 During crafting event)
- 18 Uncommon Unreplicateable Materials (15 During crafting event)
Game Description
An elite team of technical tacticians worked with engineers to develop the Aegis Hyper-Impulse Engine. The team equipped these engines to vessels assigned to the Gamma Orionis Sector Block for combat testing. The Aegis Hyper-Impulse Engines provide a variety of improvement to the basic Impulse Engines.
Aegis Covariant Shield Array
- (10% Bleedthrough)
123.2 Shield Regeneration every 6 seconds
When hit: Chance to increase resistance against incoming damage type for a short time. Stacks up to 5 times per energy type. The Aegis Covariant Shield Array is obtained from crafting, with the following requirements:
---{NO LONGER RELEVANT}---
- 1,500 General Research Skill
- 1 Schematic: Shield Array
- 60 Photonic Technology
- 1 Antithoron Particle Trace
- 1 Beta-Tachyon Particle Trace
- 1 Duderon Particle Trace
- 15 Common Unreplicateable Materials (12 During crafting event)
- 18 Uncommon Unreplicateable Materials (15 During crafting event)
Game Description
Through dedication and a lot of hard work, a team of Engineers developed the Aegis Covariant Shields based on research done while studying weapons used by Species 8472 and the Borg in the Gamma Orionis Sector Block. The Aegis Covariant Shield Array provides slightly higher capacity to that of any conventional shield, but suffers from a slower rate of regeneration. The Aegis Covariant Shield Array is useful for surviving a coordinated attack from multiple ships by utilizing the ship's systems and the ability of the Engineering Crew to skillfully manage the shields during combat.
Statistics
Unlike most items in game, the Aegis Technological Research items do not have a Mark number, but instead level with the player; however, you are required to be level 40 or higher to equip these items, meaning they level from levels 40 to 50. Though the skill bonuses are fixed, the capacity and regeneration rate of the Aegis Covariant Shield Array vary depending on the players current rank and grade, meaning that a direct comparison to items with a mark number cannot strictly be made. However, at Vice Admiral 1 or Lieutenant General 1, the Aegis Covariant Shield Array is approximately equivalent to a Covariant Shield Array Mk X [Cap]x2. but with a 0.5% higher capacity and regeneration rate.
Set powers
For each item added after the first, an additional power is available.
Set 2: Thoron Distortion Field
- Passive
- While moving the Thoron Distortion Field will grant a +5% bonus defense by deceiving sensors into targeting duranium shadows. This combines with the Aegis Hyper-Impulse Engines bonus (5% Defense) to grant a total of 10% to your Defense.
Set 3: Reactive Shielding
- Passive
- When your shields are hit, Reactive Shielding has a chance to activate, increasing the resistance to the incoming damage type for a short time. Reactive shields stacks up to 5 times per energy type, and can resist against several damage types at once. This resistance applies to your hull and not your shields.

Notes
- This set was added as part of Season Three: Genesis in December 2010.
- The Aegis set has since then been rendered 'obsolete' by the Fluidic Counter Assault Set, and its improved bonuses and stats.
- As can be seen from the gallery, Federation player ships receive blue lighting effects from equipping the [Aegis Covariant Shield], while KDF player ships receive red lighting effects. Romulan player ships use the colour of their allied faction.
