Non-combat pet. The Alfa-177 canine is an animal that is similar to an Earth canine. The creatures are small and covered in fur, however this is where the resemblance ends. Unlike Earth canines, Alfa-177 canines have a horn on the head, a row of spines down their back, a scaly tail and a pair of antennae.
The canines from Alfa 177 are a peculiar group of animals. Although very similar in overall shape and size, their exposure to the extreme environments and native energy fluctuations of their home planet have caused an incredible array of genetic mutations.
Their homeworld of Alfa 177 is known to be a fairly inhospitable planet, with night-time temperatures reaching 120º below zero, which could be an explanation for the canine's dense fur covering.
Transporting these creatures from their home soil is also exceedingly dangerous, leading most breeders to steer clear of the attempt altogether.
The extraterrestrial Trelane was known to have a stuffed Alfa-177 canine head in his mansion in 2267.
