Battle Cruisers, also spelled Battlecruisers[1], are a type of playable starship used primarily by the Klingon Defense Force. These are among the largest vessels in the KDF fleet. Battle Cruisers are slow but tough warships. In comparison to a Raptor, the battle cruiser carries slightly more in the way of firepower due to its increased size, but takes a hefty reduction to maneuverability in the process. Battle Cruisers do however have larger warp cores which allows them the luxury of more power to their systems. They also have a much stronger hull and slightly stronger shields, so they can take more damage before being destroyed.
Although still conforming to the standard Klingon ship design of long narrow hulls for the main body and a wing-like aft section, there are striking differences between the multiple tiers of ships. The K't'inga configuration is roughly equal in size to that of a Raptor but the Negh'Var configuration is over three times bigger in length and height. Much like the other Klingon vessels they can also equip cannons to give them a large boost to frontal firepower.
Federation and Klingon Battle Cruisers typically have 3 device slots and gain a bonus +10 weapons power and engine power. They also have access to three cruiser commands, as opposed to the four available to conventional cruisers:
Although they lack the conventional cruiser's ability to attract fire for crowd control, they can equip Dual Cannons in exchange. The Romulan Republic does not field any Battle Cruisers per se, although their Warbird Battle Cruisers share some similarities.
- ↑ Since the launch of Tier 6 starships, the Mastery Package and ship type have been consistently called "Battle Cruiser" while the ships themselves have been consistently named "Battlecruiser". Ships released prior to the Tier 6 era used either in their names seemingly at random. You may need to try both spellings when searching either the in-game Exchange or this wiki.

Tier 5[ | ]
Ranger Temporal Battlecruiser[ | ]
The agile Ranger-class was one of the most respected Battlecruisers of the 23rd century. A tactical powerhouse, the Ranger was built for combat resolution. As a result, these vessels were often deployed on the front line in conflicts with the Klingons and Romulans. Temporal technology has allowed this vessel to be updated to 25th Century standards and thus is in comparison with vessel of only a few years ago. The vessel has a Photonic Decoy Beacon added to its arsenal as well, which, when activated, causes enemies to attack it instead of the ship, with a chance to disable them. As a Temporal Vessel, the ship also comes with Molecular Reconstruction which allows the vessel to virtually transform into a specific orientation; Offensive, Defensive and Support. This 'transformation' allows the vessel additional benefits but also can be countered in some respects and is based on a counter system which charges up enabling the activation of a Molecular Deconstruction Beam which deals additional physical damage to an enemy target as well as disabling them.
Avenger Battle Cruiser[ | ]
Since the war with the Klingon Empire began, Starfleet engineers have been working on ship designs intended for battle as well as exploration. One of the designs to come out of this effort was the Avenger Class Battle Cruiser. The Avenger Class Battle Cruiser’s design aims to provide a durable warship that is more manoeuvrable than Starfleet’s existing cruisers, and can carry a devastating amount of firepower. However, it does sacrifice a measure of hull strength for this extra manoeuvrability. There is nothing subtle about this starship class. The Avenger’s aggressive silhouette and available firepower makes it a formidable and intimidating presence in any battle.

Concorde Command Battlecruiser[ | ]
With the ceasefire in the Federation and Klingon war and the rise of the Romulan Republic, joint operations have become more of a priority for Starfleet. A Starfleet Corps of Engineers team at the San Francisco Shipyards developed the Command Battlecruiser ships to act as a mobile command centre. The Command Battlecruiser's advanced communications array can relay battle-critical information instantaneously and inspire allies to the best performance. The Concorde class variant features a sleek yet compact design with four warp nacelles and is the Engineering orientated version of the lineup featuring Command orientated bridge officer stations. Additionally, the Concorde can repair its own hull slightly when the crew braces for impact.
Geneva Command Battlecruiser[ | ]
With the ceasefire in the Federation and Klingon war and the rise of the Romulan Republic, joint operations have become more of a priority for Starfleet. A Starfleet Corps of Engineers team at the San Francisco Shipyards developed the Command Battlecruiser ships to act as a mobile command centre. The Command Battlecruiser's advanced communications array can relay battle-critical information instantaneously and inspire allies to the best performance. The Geneva class variant features a slightly shorter saucer section than the Concorde with its four warp nacelles on raised pylons. It is the Science orientated version of the lineup featuring Command orientated bridge officer stations. Additionally, the Geneva enables the Tachyon Beam to add additional shield strength to allies with a certain radius upon the first pulse of the beam activating.
Presidio Command Battlecruiser[ | ]
With the ceasefire in the Federation and Klingon war and the rise of the Romulan Republic, joint operations have become more of a priority for Starfleet. A Starfleet Corps of Engineers team at the San Francisco Shipyards developed the Command Battlecruiser ships to act as a mobile command centre. The Command Battlecruiser's advanced communications array can relay battle-critical information instantaneously and inspire allies to the best performance. The Presidio class variant is much longer in terms of physical design giving it a much more stream lined appearance. It is the Tactical orientated version of the lineup featuring Command orientated bridge officer stations. Additionally, the efficiency of the Presidio can allow Science bridge officers to have their abilities occur more often whilst allowing the Captain to accomplish the same.
Arbiter Battlecruiser[ | ]
The Arbiter Class Battlecruiser is based upon the Avenger Class Battlecruiser's design. This upgraded starship was designed from the ground up to be durable enough to combat the Iconian threat while still being able to deliver punishing amounts of damage. The Arbiter is longer than the Avenger but is much flatter and somewhat streamlined yet has visible corners and edges in the overall design. Compared to most standard cruisers, the Arbiter is weaker in hull and shield strength but compared to other Federation Battlecruisers, the Arbiter is state of the art in terms of Tactical orientation featuring Intelligence orientated bridge officer stations. Ablative Hazard Shielding is an ability featured on the Arbiter too, as it grants a temporary secondary shield. Upon expiration, energy absorbed by the shielding is shunted to shields and the structural integrity field, granting a large Hull and shield heal. This also provides a passive boost to shield hardness and regeneration. Additionally, the Arbiter can also boost Emergency Power to Weapons in terms of overall firing speed whilst lowering the power cost necessary.
Fleet Arbiter Battlecruiser[ | ]
The Fleet variant of the Arbiter gains an additional Science console slot as well as better overall hull and shield strengths.
Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser[ | ]
A Starfleet vessel of the 26th Century, the Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser is a very sleek and physically flat vessel that makes its design unique to the time frame of the 25th Century. Continuing the physical design orientation of the 26th Century starships, the Paladin is armed with abilities that makes it formidable in a firefight. Drawing inspiration from the 23rd century Ranger-class, the Paladin-class Battlecruiser is very tactically focused featuring Temporal orientated bridge officer stations. It features a potent weapons platform, and a number of sophisticated manoeuvre systems make the Paladin a remarkably agile vessel for its class. Additionally, the Paladin features an ability to shunt out additional weapons damage whenever the vessel is hit critically.
Klingon Battle Cruisers[ | ]
Tier 2[ | ]
K'Tanco Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The K'Tanco is the first Battle Cruiser that players of the Klingon Empire will gain access to. It matches to the Federation Cruiser in most respects. However it has a higher turn rate and a slightly stronger hull than its Starfleet equivalent, but is one device slot short. Also it can mount Dual Cannons and Dual Heavy Cannons, a trait passed on to all further iterations of Battle Cruiser. The K'Tanco class is named for the famed battle cruiser IKS K'tanco. A lighter but more modern version of the K't'inga class Battle Cruiser, the K'Tanco has a squarer and more angular design. The forward command module is flatter and has an under-slung torpedo launcher. Unlike the traditional Klingon battle cruiser arrangement, the warp nacelles are integrated into the aft engine assembly, similar to a Bird-of-Prey, leaving the main forward battery to be mounted on Bird-of-Prey-style feather-patterned wings.
Tier 3[ | ]
K't'inga Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The K't'inga class Battle Cruiser is a monster of a starship for its tier. It is the first vessel of both the Federation and Klingon Empire factions that has four frontal weapon slots (which can hold cannons). In comparison to the Federation Cruiser at this Tier (the Heavy Cruiser) it has a better turn rate, 300 additional crew, and comes equipped with a cloaking device. It does, however, have a weaker hull by 2,000 hit points, and due to its 4 forward weapon slots it only has 2 slots aft. Its lineage can be traced back to the D7 class encountered by Starfleet in the 23rd century. The K't'inga class is a prime example of the classic Klingon cruiser design, having its warp nacelles on fixed pylons with a feather pattern, and a large spheroid forward section on a long neck. The K't'inga class was first introduced in the early 2270s, but despite the vessel's age its popularity among officers of the Klingon Defense Force remains strong.
Koro't'inga Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The aging K't'inga class was refitted near the turn of the 25th century, updating a classic design to more modern requirements. The Koro't'inga variant is based on the first K't'inga design and has a thinner neck with braces. The hull is also thinned out which is dissimilar to typical Klingon rugged designs. It features a standard Klingon design with fixed wings that lead to the nacelles at the aft section of the ship, a neck stem connected to the main hull and the bridge located towards the front.
Kamarag Battlecruiser[ | ]
The Kamarag class was first designed in the mid-24th century, but only a few prototype vessels were built. After problems were found in the ship's power transfer systems, the design was shelved. Empire engineers later created the mighty Vor'cha Battle Cruiser. Now that the Klingon Empire and its allies are looking for new ships, a team at the Ty'Gokor shipyards has revisited the Kamarag class. Its power problems were easily solved by modern EPS systems, and the Kamarag was reimagined as a mid-sized vessel that can be tougher than a Bird-of-Prey but more maneuverable than a standard Battle Cruiser.
Tier 4[ | ]
Vor'cha Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The Vor'cha class Battle Cruiser is obtained when a Klingon player achieves the rank of Captain. The Vor'cha was the main attack cruiser of the Klingon Defense Force during the mid-24th century. One of the first Klingon cruisers to deviate from the classic design of vessels like the K't'inga class or D7 class, the Vor'cha has a forked forward section housing the main forward battery. The command section is further back and the neck thicker to accommodate more crew quarters and internal systems. The ship size is much larger compared to the K't'inga models (nearly double the length), and due to this has nearly double the crew. The ship stands very well toe-to-toe with an Exploration Cruiser. It has more crew and nearly double the turn rate, but one less device slot and a weaker hull.
Vor'Kang Battle Cruiser[ | ]
Based on the classic Vor'cha class ships of the late 2360s, the new Refit Vor'Kang class was engineered to combat the growing threat from the Federation. This costume is only unlocked by obtaining the Vor'Kang Battle Cruiser but is then available on the Vor'cha Battle Cruiser, Vor'cha Battle Cruiser Retrofit and Fleet Tor'Kaht Battle Cruiser Retrofit.
Tier 5[ | ]
Negh'Var Heavy Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The Negh'Var class is obtained at the Brigadier General rank. It continues as its predecessors did in terms of the increased size and crew compliment. In comparison to the Rear Admiral Federation Cruisers, it has 2.5x to 3.2x the crew compliment, better turn rates and can load cannons, and has the same hull and shield strength. It is one of few vessels in the Klingon Defense Force that has eight weapon slots. It was first known to the Federation in 2372 during a skirmish with Deep Space 9. The Negh'var is an imposing vessel with broad, fixed wings carrying twin warp nacelles. Similar to the Vor'cha class, the Negh'Var has a large forked forward section and weapons array.
Mirror Universe Negh'Var Heavy Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The Negh'Var Battle Cruiser exists in the Mirror Universe also, and a handfull of these ships have bled over into the Prime Universe via the Azure Nebula spacial rift. As opposed to the Regent's Flagship seen in the Mirror Universe decades ago, these Negh'var's are sized like their Prime-Universe counterparts. The differences between the Prime and the Mirror ships is the Mirror-version swaps the Lt. Cmdr Engineering and the Lt. Science bridge officer stations, to Lt. Cmdr Science and a Lt. Engineering stations. Additionally, the Mirror version is more versatile with the console layout, trading an Engineering console for an additional Science console.
Vor'cha Battle Cruiser Retrofit[ | ]
This Retrofit vessel is a heavily modified version of the Vor'cha Battle Cruiser (Tier 4). The Klingon Defense Force upgraded this variant with the latest acquired technology seized by the Empire in the early 25th century. The Retrofit is more maneuverable than the Negh'var and features slightly more Tactical orientation than its huge counterpart.
Mirror Universe Vor'cha Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The Vor'cha Battle Cruiser apparently exists in the Mirror Universe also, and a handfull of these ships have bled over into the Prime Universe via the Azure Nebula spacial rift. The differences between the Mirror and Prime versions is that this was constructed initially on-par with modern technology (hence, no retrofit) and features an Ensign Science Bridge Officer station as opposed to a Tactical Bridge Officer station on the Prime Retrofit.
Kamarag Battlecruiser Retrofit[ | ]

Gorkon Science Battlecruiser (T6)[ | ]
The Klingon Flagship Battlecruisers are heavily based upon the original design of the Bortasqu' Battlecruisers. These massive starships are incredibly resilient, but slow to maneuver. The Gorkon is the Science variant of the line and is more or less almost identical to the original Bortasqu' with the exception of a rigid front end and a slightly altered forward section. The vessel itself features a Command orientated bridge officer station and is equipped with an Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive for incredibly quick and extended travel as well as Sensor Analysis to detect vulnerabilities in enemy vessel and to aid allies. The Dampening Wave Emitter is also an ability featured on the Gorkon and it emits a Violent Dampening Wave that will disable nearby ships, cause minor radiation damage over time as well as dramatically reducing their damage output for a short period of time. Additionally, the Gorkon has the ability to increase projectile weapon damage as well as increase damage from exotic sources, such as Gravity Wells.
Martok Tactical Battlecruiser (T6)[ | ]
The Klingon Flagship Battlecruisers are heavily based upon the original design of the Bortasqu' Battlecruisers. These massive starships are incredibly resilient, but slow to maneuver. The Martok is the Tactical variant of the line and whilst the engineering section is more or less identical to the original Bortasqu', the forward section and neck are considerably beefed up and bulky. The vessel itself features a Command orientated bridge officer station and is equipped with an Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive for incredibly quick and extended travel as well as a Tactical Flagship Computer ability that, when activated, will provide a substantial increase to flight speed, turn rate and weapons firing rate to allies for a short time. The vessel itself features a Command orientated bridge officer station and is equipped with an Advanced Quantum Slipstream Drive for incredibly quick and extended travel as well as an Adaptive Emergency Systems ability which, when activated, provides a substantial boost to damage and damage resistance for a short time. This effect is increased by 50% if the starships current hull integrity is below 50%. Additionally, the Kahless features the ability to increase its hull integrity every time the hull is repaired and every time Command abilities are used.
Cross-Faction Battle Cruisers[ | ]
Tier 5[ | ]
Ferengi D'Kora Marauder[ | ]
The D’Kora Class is a Ferengi built Marauder, designed to function as a Freighter for the Ferengi Alliance, exporting and importing trade goods to and from the Ferengi Alliance. The Marauder has also been known to serve as a Ferengi Battle Cruiser, possessing impressive firepower and the ability to survive over an extended period of time in certain circumstances. The ship is also equipped with a Battle Module, which allows the Marauder to literally transform into a configuration designed specifically for combat situations. Using this module and combining it with an EMP Pulse Generator as well as Swarm Missiles, the Marauder has its own fair share of fearsome weapons to hold its own in combat situations.
Tal Shiar Adapted Battle Cruiser[ | ]
The Khnial Class is a series of powerful Tal Shiar Battle Cruisers based on the design of the D'deridex and upgraded with adapted Borg technology. By augmenting the D'deridex, the Tal Shiar designed this vessel to focus on crippling and disabling enemy ships, or even turning them against one another. Due to its advanced technology, the Khnial has access to Sensor Analysis, allowing to gradually increase its damage dealt to a single target, based on how long it keeps that target as its focus. Heavily resembling Nero's Narada from the 2009 Star Trek, the Khnial bears little, if any, resemblance to the sleek lines of Romulan Warbirds. The ship's jagged fore extrusions and angular appearance are due to incorporation of Borg technology in the ship's design.
Elachi Monbosh Battleship[ | ]
The Elachi Monbosh Battleship's distinctive silhouette has become a fearful sight to behold for any starship confronted by the Elachi fleet. The menacing upswept design of this battleship seems designed to instill dread in their opponents, even before the first shots are fired. Angular and menacing, the ship has a distinct horizontal upswept appearance, slightly reminiscent of the appearance of Nausicaan Destroyers. The ship performs much like the Fleet Tor'Kaht Battle Cruiser Retrofit, only this ship is more more flexible and more survivable than the Klingon ship.
Hirogen Apex Heavy Battlecruiser[ | ]
With an appearance derived from the large Hirogen ships seen by the U.S.S. Voyager, the Apex is a monster of a ship, with an in-game model as large as the (1300m) Vo'Quv Carrier. The prominent command section and massive body give the ship the appearance of something that could take an immense beating and still come back for more. The Apex is a truly fearsome vessel that is well suited to hunting down even the most deadly prey. The Apex lacks the manoeuvrability of its Hunter counterpart, but compensates with tremendous hull and shield strength.
Tier 6[ | ]
Vaadwaur Astika Heavy Battlecruiser[ | ]
Designed using a combination of the Vaadwaur's 900-year-old martial philosophy and cutting-edge technology derived from the Supremacy's mysterious benefactors, the Astika strikes an unusual, aggressive profile. The sides of the hull house numerous weapon hardpoints, including the infamous Vaadwaur polaron barrage emitters. The deflector is mounted along the forward "nose" area, exposing the minimal amount of necessary surface area to allow functionality. The Vaadwaur Astika comes equipped with the Assault Mode Relays ability. This unit contains sophisticated circuitry designed specifically to facilitate quickly shunting power between engines and weapons in the blink of an eye. Vaadwaur starships frequently make use of this capability to allow their vessels to swap between being highly mobile, and highly deadly.
Na'kuhl Acheros Battlecruiser[ | ]
The foreboding silhouette of the Acheros-class Battlecruiser was designed to instill fear into those that behold it. This agile battlecruiser is capable of appearing out of nowhere to deliver a devastating barrage of weapons fire, thanks to its ability to use Battle Cloak. The vessel comes equipped with an Unstable Entanglement Platform ability. Once deployed, this fearsome device will draw in nearby enemies with a powerful tractor beam. Once an enemy starship gets close to the platform it will explode, dealing heavy kinetic damage that bypasses a portion of enemy shields. Additionally, after this platform explodes or is otherwise destroyed, it will leave behind a harmful radiation cloud that deals heavy shield damage over time as well as some shield penetrating radiation damage.
Performance[ | ]
The Battle Cruiser has a significant armament being the most well equipped Klingon Empire vessel in terms of weapons slots that players can customise. This is also strengthened by the fact, like all Klingon vessels, they can equip cannons for a damage boost.
The K't'inga variation is more of a forward facing vessel since 4 of the 6 available slots it gets are located at the fore end of the ship. At the General rank though when players are able to get the Negh'Var Battle Cruiser this is evened out and players will get 4 each at the fore and aft sections of the ship. This suits the ship well given it's sub-par maneuverability.
Battle Cruisers are not very fast in comparison to other ships in the Klingon fleet, although compared to Federation ships they are on par with the exception of the Escort type vessels. These ships have the most dedicated Engineering slots of any of the Klingon vessels, and at General rank can have three Engineering officer stations of various ranks
