Special Ability:  Parasitic Ice Containment Vessel

The Console - Universal - Parasitic Ice Containment Vessel is obtained by the players of all factions from the [Discovery: Far From Home Lock Box]. This console can be equipped on any ship and can be put into any console slot. Player may only equip one of these consoles.

Game Description

This Console's active ability fires a cluster munition containing a colony of Parasitic Ice toward target vessel. When it bursts, it encases the Foe, disabling Engines and Taunting the Foe to attack the Ice until it sets itself free (does not Taunt Players).If the Ice survives 20 sec, it deals additional Cold damage; if the Foe dies during the duration, the Ice spreads to up to three nearby Foes, though total Ice Duration may not exceed 40 sec. Passively, the Console improves Projectile Damage, Cannon Damage, Cold Damage, and Cold Damage Resistance Rating.

Initially just for study, the combat applications of the Parasitic Ice Containment Vessel were quickly discovered. By Seeding a cluster munitions with the Ice and bursting it near and enemy ship, the ship can be disabled quickly and simply without risk to the crew. While the Ice itself is alive at a basic level, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the homogenous self-replicating Ice molecules.
