Release date: November 20, 2020
The Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer is a Tier 6 Science Destroyer which may be flown by Starfleet characters, including Federation-aligned Romulan Republic and Dominion characters. All faction restrictions of this starship can be removed by having a level 65 KDF character or by purchasing the Cross Faction Flying unlock from the Zen Store. This starship can be used from any level upon completion of the tutorial experience. As you level up, this ship gains additional hull, weapon slots, and console slots.
Players can obtain this starship from any Ship and Shuttle Requisitions officer for 20,000 and 5 , so long as the player's Fleet has a Tier III Shipyard and one Starbase Military Fleet Ship Provision. If the player already owns the Titan Science Destroyer from the Zen Store, the Fleet Ship Module cost is reduced to 1.
Overview[ | ]
It's a balance between exploring the galaxy, and gearing up to fight when necessary. As a Science Destroyer, the ship has two modes it can switch between, Science and Tactical. It also is equipped with a console designed to disable enemy systems, effectively taking them out of the fight for a brief time. She also can be loaded with an advanced subspace communication device, allowing you to summon the aid of your faction's flagship at a moment's notice.
Class variants
Class | Information |
---|---|
SKIN UNLOCK: Free The Luna class has a very slender and curved design. It has a typical saucer section at the fore end of the ship which intersects with the hull. The hull is quite small and is predominantly located on the under-side of the ship. The aft section of the hull also slopes on roughly a 20 degree angle. The hull connects to two pylons which split off at a 45 degree angle to connect to the nacelles. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Free The Polaris class is very abrasive compared to the Luna and Sol classes. The aft section of the mission pod, main hull and nacelles lead off into a spiked design. The saucer section is quite typical in design, although is longer than most and has notable cut-outs on the rear left and right sides. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Free The Sol class's design has more in common with the Luna class than the Polaris, and features a very smooth and rounded design with little in the way of sharp edges. The saucer design is pear-shaped with the wider portion at the rear. The dorsal section of the hull comprises of a smooth slope going from the saucer section to the aft section of the hull and also is the main entry point for shuttles. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Free with this starship The Comet class is a variant of the Luna class but resembles the Sol class. Nacelle pylons are forked and the pod and saucer section are much more connected. The saucer also has a Star Cruiser-style middle row that extends to the neck. This class was previously available as an extra ship skin in the Zen Store, but as of Season 7 is exclusive to the Fleet Reconnaissance Science Vessel. Players who purchased the skin prior to the Season 7 update may still use the Comet skin on any Reconnaissance Science Vessels they own. | |
SKIN UNLOCK: Titan Science Destroyer, 3000 The Titan-class is a 2411 version of the Luna-class, named for the ship once commanded by William T. Riker. Its distinctive mission pod, attached to the vessel's secondary hull, is reminiscent of the deflector assembly of a Buran-class cruiser and is color coded based on its active transformation mode - Science or Tactical. In addition to its sleek profile, the Titan features an encased "infinity mirror" deflector design. | |

Science and Tactical modes
A built-in Tactical Mode ability allows the Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer to switch between a default Science Mode and Tactical Mode.
Activating the Tactical Mode transforms the starship from a typical Science Vessel into a combat-oriented Destroyer. This disables most of advanced science systems while activating additional tactical systems, and downgrades the Commander Science bridge officer station into a Lieutenant Commander, while the Lieutenant Commander Tactical station is upgraded to Commander. In Tactical mode, the ship's shield capacity will be reduced.

Tactical Mode may be deactivated at any time to return to the default Science Mode.
Sensor Analysis[]
Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability available to the Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer while it is in Science Mode. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.
Subsystem Targeting[]
The Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities that it may use while it is in Science Mode. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Target Engines Subsystems I
- Target Shields Subsystems I
Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.
Experimental Weapon[]
The Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer comes with an Experimental Weapon slot, which is only activated while in Tactical Mode. This additional slot does not fit standard weapons. Unlike standard starship weapons, Experimental weapons are not affected by weapon firing modes, such as those granted by bridge officer abilities.
Standard configuration[ | ]
Federation starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.

Equipment slots and seating[]
As you rank up every 10 levels, up to level 40, the ship's forward weapon slots, aft weapon slots, tactical console slots, engineering console slots, science console slots and available bridge officer (boff) abilities will slowly increase toward endgame capabilities:

Hull strength[]
This table shows how the ship's hull strength scales at each level. The base hull of all scaling starships is 10,000, which is then multiplied by the ship's hull modifier (1.21 for the Fleet Comet-class Science Destroyer), and then multiplied by the scaling multiplier below at each level.

Notes[ | ]
- Because of a bug at launch, the non-fleet version of this ship, the Titan-class Science Destroyer, was faction-unlocked. As it was claimed by KDF and Klingon Empire-aligned captains before a patch could be developed, Cryptic opted to allow it to be a cross-faction ship.
- While the Ship Vendor displays the Fleet Comet Science Destroyer's shield mod as 1.46, the in-game value & the announcement blog both corroborate this ship's actual listed value of 1.4575.
