Republic starship designers have released their latest creation, the Laeosa-class Research Warbird. Breakthroughs in tachyon-based technology have been used to effect on this ship, making it one of the most formidable science vessels in Republic armada.
Federation and Klingon Empire Fleets, which Republic officers are part of, have made further upgrades to the Laeosa-class Research Warbirds. These Fleet Starships are built to the highest standard and have increased Hull Hit Points, Shield Strength and an additional Engineering Console slot. Tier 6 Fleet ships do not have a 5th Starship Mastery level and thus do not unlock a Starship Trait.

The Laeosa class serves as a successor to the Talon class, small research warbird used by the Romulan Star Empire in the 24th century. An oval mission pod, not unlike the one on the Talon, takes up most of the ship's aft section. An elongated antenna protrudes from its head. The overall shape of the ship's hull reminds of the Ar'kif Tactical Warbird.

The Fleet Laeosa Research Warbird doesn't come equipped with any universal consoles. However, it can equip [Console - Universal - Tachyon Particle Field Emitter] obtainable with the Laeosa Research Warbird (T6).
The Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird features the following specialist seats:
- Lieutenant Commander Engineering/Temporal Operative
The Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird has a battle cloak that allows the ship to cloak during combat, granting stealth and a damage bonus upon decloaking.
Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.
As a Romulan Warbird, the Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird comes with built-in Singularity abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Warbirds. These powers build in severity based on the charge built up by the ship's Singularity Core.
The Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Target Engines Subsystems I
- Target Shields Subsystems I
Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.
Romulan starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
This starship's equipment slots, base hull capacity and shield capacity scale as your level increases.
Equipment slots and seating
As you rank up every 10 levels, up to level 40, the ship's forward weapon slots, aft weapon slots, tactical console slots, engineering console slots, science console slots and available bridge officer (boff) abilities will slowly increase toward endgame capabilities:
This table shows how the ship's hull strength scales at each level. The base hull of all scaling starships is 10,000, which is then multiplied by the ship's hull modifier (1.1825 for the Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird), and then multiplied by the scaling multiplier below at each level.

By using an [Experimental Ship Upgrade Token], the Fleet Laeosa-class Research Warbird may be upgraded to T6-X, unlocking an extra ship device slot, universal console slot, and the ability to slot an extra starship trait.
Note that upgrading the Laeosa Research Warbird, the standard non-fleet version of the Fleet Laeosa Research Warbird, will not apply the upgrade to this starship.
