Ground weapons, or personal weapons, come in two different forms: melee and ranged. They can be equipped on player characters and bridge officers.
Melee[]

Melee weapons include bat'leths and other such items from various cultures. Personal shields are only marginally effective against melee attacks, which will deal 80% of their damage directly to their target. Melee weapons mainly deal physical damage, but some also deal additional energy damage which may also ignore shields.
There are also unarmed melee combat abilities such as the karate chop and Vulcan nerve pinch. It is also possible to use the stock of your ranged weapon to attack enemies who come into close range, or strike with unarmed attacks like palm strikes while equipped with a pistol.

Jaylah's Staff and Nanopulse Staff-Rifle are described as combination rifle-melee weapons; their palm strike slots have been replaced by powerful polearm combination attacks. The Terran Knife is a ground device which replaces the tertiary attack of other weapons with a strong melee strike. |

Ranged weapons can be divided into three categories, each consisting of several types of weapons:
- Pistol: Compression Pistol, Dual Pistols, Stun Pistol, Wide Beam Pistol, and uncommon types: Needle Pistol, Rapid Needle Pistol, Repeater Pistol, Split Beam Pistol
- Rifle: Full Auto Rifle, High Density Beam Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Split Beam Rifle, and uncommon types: Blast Rifle, Burst Rifle, Ejection Rifle, Energy Stream Rifle, Multibeam Rifle, Piercing Beam Rifle, Projection Rifle, Wide Beam Rifle, Autocarbine
- Assault: Assault Minigun, Blast Assault, Pulsewave Assault, and uncommon types: Assault Dense Beam, Charged Burst Assault, Long-Range Assault Minigun, High Density Beam Projector, Split Beam Projector, Stun Beam Projector, Corfeld Mining Plasma Cutter
Ranged combat also involve the use of abilities that allow throwing of various types of grenades or utility weaponry that can be beamed in such as turrets or mortars.
As part of the ground combat revamp in Season Four, the 30 meter range for primary and secondary attacks was altered to make different weapon types have a more distinctive characteristic.
Damage types and bonuses[]

Ranged weapons can deal Energy, Kinetic, Physical or Environmental Damage. Various Damage types can have a bonus effect known as a Proc. Most weapons come with one of these bonuses, while some rarer weapons may contain multiple.
Weapon's proc can be divided into three categories:
- Standard: These are the 11 standard ranged weapon types, which can be one of six energy types. These are available from vendors and mission rewards, as loot drops, and can be crafted through the Research and Development system.
- Dual-Proc: These weapons combine a standard damage and proc with a second proc—this comes at the cost of one Modifier. These weapons are available from Lock Boxes and the Reputation System.
- New Proc: These weapons replace the standard proc for an energy type with a different one. These weapons are available from Lock Boxes, Reputation System, Fleet system or mission rewards.
- Note: The colors used below represent the approximate colors of each standard energy weapon type.

As of Season 5, the rarer the weapon, the more base damage it would do, regardless of suffixes.
Uncommon Ground weapons will have one modifier suffix, Rare will have two, Very Rare will have three and Ultra Rare will have four. The same modifiers may appear multiple times (e.g. [Acc]x2, [Cap]x3, etc.). .
