In Frozen the player travels to Dera IV to investigate a Reman settlement targeted by the Tal Shiar. There, the player must confront Obisek, leader of the Reman Resistance, and make a fateful choice.
Synopsis[ | ]
The player is sent to investigate the Reman settlement in the Dera IV System which has been targeted by the Tal Shiar. In the system, the crew manages to follow the trail of a Reman Bird-of-Prey leading to the secret refuge. At first, a disabled mining laser has to be repaired while fighting off unfriendly fauna until Obisek can be confronted in the center of his base. Threatened by an impending Tal Shiar attack, Obisek gives the player the choice either to help his Resistance by fighting the Romulans or becoming his enemy - for now. Obisek escapes just before the fighting ensues. Afterwards, the player is informed that an official alliance with Obisek is not yet conceivable. The mission ends with the information that the matter will be pursued further.

Mission Text[ | ]
Federation[ | ]
We know from the information you recovered from the Hfihar system that the Tal Shiar are planning to attack a Reman settlement in the Dera system.
We have an opportunity to reach the settlement first. This may be a completely internal matter, and if so, the Prime Directive will come into play. We will not be able to interfere.
But if there is an outside influence directing these matters, we must know what it is. Our encounters with the Undine and the Changelings have proven that there are entities attempting to move the powers of the quadrant like pieces in a Kal-toh game. It is essential to protecting the Federation to see these attempts for what they are ... and counter them.
I want you to go the Dera system and learn more about the Reman uprising. The Remans will have hidden their base, so you may have to use subterfuge to find it.
One more thing -- I realize this is a dangerous situation and that you may be drawn into conflict. But do not antagonize the Remans or Romulans if you can avoid doing so. We are already at war with the Klingon Empire. I would prefer to avoid another extended conflict.
Klingon[ | ]

I suspect that this affair is more than simple squabbling. The Tal Shiar either have something to gain from persecuting the Remans or they are under orders to do so. I want to know which it is.
Romulan Republic[ | ]
We know from the information you recovered from the Hfihar system that the Tal Shiar are planning to attack a Reman settlement in the Dera system.
We have an opportunity to reach the settlement first. It may be possible for you to gain the trust of the Reman saboteurs, or at least to learn more of their motives and their base of operations.
While Starfleet is constrained against interfering with internal matters of other galactic powers, you are not limited in this fashion. Nevertheless, I must warn you to avoid drawing the Federation any further into confrontations that may be avoidable.
Starfleet Command is extending a great deal of trust to you with this mission. Please try to avoid precipitating an interstellar war with any rash or impetuous actions.

Feature Episode Notes[ | ]
- Third of five missions plus an epilogue mission, of the third Feature Episode Cloaked Intentions released in February 2011. The missions were included at the end of the Federation storyline episode Romulan Mystery, but still form a separate episode (also titled Romulan Mystery) in the Klingon storyline. In the Romulan Republic storyline the episode is called Freedom and contains an additional short prologue mission.
- The mission is part of the Featured Episode re-runs, and as such eligible for limited time, special mission rewards.
- During the forth Feature Episode re-run (October 31 to December 5, 2013) the mission was eligible for the daily Lobi Crystal reward (once 15 per player account and day).
Notes[ | ]
- Obisek expresses his fears that the Tal Shiar are being led by "the demons of air and darkness" (the Iconians)
- The Glikar'ma spiders are a reference to the LUG Star Trek RPG, where they are said to be native to Andoria.
- The micro nebula concept makes its second appearance after “The Vault”.
- This mission was the first to feature actual branching gameplay. The last act depends on whether the player sides with Obisek or not. If the player decides to support him, invading Tal Shiar forces must be fought in defense of the refuge. Otherwise, the player will face Reman resistance fighters (In addition to the Tal Shiar) and is able to collect an additional accolade. However, T'nae's debriefing (and thus the ultimate outcome of the episode) remains the same for both endings.
- The first space map of this mission is a reuse of the Aelas System from “Saturday's Child”.
- As of Season 4 the mission is no longer available at level 6 and above, but level 31 and above.
- This mission was revamped with new cutscenes on 17 October, 2019.
- Obtaining the Incarcerator accolade requires that the mission be replayed 3 times.
- If you are actually playing as a Reman character, Obisek will grant a third alternative, giving the player the option to fully join the resistance. Though it is essentially siding with him, there is a unique accolade involved in the choice along with unique mission steps: Rather than just fighting Tal Shair forces and disabling a transport inhibitor the Reman player must set up 4 transport inhibitors to prevent more Tal Shiar forces from beaming in (in an effort to save the base). NOTE: This choice is currently bugged and the mission will not progress.
