Mission Text

For almost 30 years, Starfleet has been studying an area in Romulan space known as the Bassen Rift. The Romulans call it the Great Bloom.

In 2379, the rift was the site of a battle between Romulan Praetor Shinzon and the U.S.S. Enterprise-E. In that battle, a large amount of thalaron radiation was released.

Shinzon's ship was destroyed when a thalaron weapon he was attempting to use was destroyed by Commander Data of the Enterprise. Since then, we've been monitoring the spread of the thalaron radiation in the area.

Thalaron radiation is extremely dangerous, <rank>. It consumes organic material at the subatomic level. Should the radiation remaining in the rift drift toward inhabited worlds, the loss of life would be catastrophic.

I need you to take the U.S.S. <ship> to the Bassen Rift. Take detailed scans of the gas formations and measure the rate ofspread of the thalaron radiation.

It would be wise to stay alert. Not only is the rift in Romulan space, but it also is known to disrupt subspace communications. If you encounter difficulty out there, Starfleet may not be able to help.

Goal

Go to the Bassen Rift and measure the spread of thalaron radiation. The Bassen Rift is located in the Great Bloom system, which is in the Tarod Sector of the Iota Pavonis Sector Block.

Mission Reward

With the release of the Legacy of Romulus expansion on May 21, 2013, all missions originally rewarding a choice out of three profession-specific Kits, now reward a packed up Profession-Specific Mk <> Kit Reward, that automatically scales to the player's level and his chosen profession. Strategy Notes

• "Setting the Trap: Destroy Subspace Anomalies": Tab until you find the Devidian Portal target and destroy it. The New Arrival enemies are very weak and will stop spawning once the portal has been destroyed. The other portals are back in the ship, in the cargo holds.

Notes

• A minor bug allows you to scan the crate used for the "Always the Scanner, Never the Scanned" Accolade multiple times. You only get credit for the accolade once though.
