In Second Wave, the player is summoned to a meeting of Alpha Quadrant powers that are at Deep Space 9.
Summary[ | ]
Join the powers of the Alpha Quadrant at DS9 to plan a defense against the Borg. What will you do when an unexpected guest arrives?
Synopsis[ | ]
The player is called to Deep Space 9 to attend a conference regarding the Borg resurgence. Captain Kurland is delayed and his first officer, Commander Andrews, asks the player to inform the other delegates.
Elim Garak, Ambassador Surah, Captain Va'Kel Shon and S'taass can be found around the Promenade and offer optional side quests. When Kurland's issue in Cargo Bay Three is resolved, Admiral Trem, who seeks peace and quiet in the Bajoran temple, is taken to the conference by the player.
The conference commences and Admiral Trem's bid for cooperation is countered by claims and doubts. It depends on the player to form a tentative coalition. Just as common ground is approached, the wormhole spits out a fleet of Dominion warships. DS9 is taken under fire and boarded by Jem'Hadar forces.
The assault in the Wardroom is quickly repelled, and it is the player's turn to evacuate the surviving delegates. Jem'Hadar troops have to be fought while sneaking across the Promenade to the Docking Ring.
Once the delegates are in their shuttles, the player commands his/her ship in the ensuing fight with Jem'Hadar Attack Ships. A hole is punched into the enemy lines. While running from the reinforcements arriving from the wormhole, Starfleet ships are in need of help.
With the enemy forces fighting these ships defeated, the delegates evacuation assured and the retreat to Bajor, the mission is accomplished. However, with the fall of DS9 the Dominion fleet has gained a bridgehead in the Alpha Quadrant.

Mission Text[ | ]
Federation[ | ]
By now, you've faced the Borg.
The Collective is appearing with more frequency in the Alpha Quadrant, and Defera is facing repeated attacks.
We've been able to push them back so far, but we can't do it forever. Not without help.
Starfleet has convinced representatives from the Klingon Empire, the Cardassians, and the Deferi to meet on Deep Space 9. We want you to be there as well.
Klingon[ | ]
My name is Commander Mesi Achebe, and I was authorized by your High Council to contact you.
By now, you've faced the Borg.
The Collective is appearing with more frequency in the Alpha Quadrant, and Defera is facing increasing attacks.
We've been able to push them back so far, but we can't do it forever. Not without help.
Starfleet is organizing a meeting on DS9 to discuss the Borg situation. Representatives from Starfleet, the Cardassians, and the Deferi will be present. Your chancellor is sending a representative as well. We want you to be there to represent the Klingon forces fighting the Collective.
We have our differences, but some problems are simply too big to ignore.

Bugs[ | ]
- "Second Wave" suffered from a major bug for several months: When you were given the option to warp to Bajor after securing the escapees route, the mission may have reset itself instead of being completed once you arrive. A possible work-around was to play the mission in a group.
- "Second Wave" suffers from a bug that overlaps Elim Garak's dialogue at the opening conference cutscene with the dialogue of the previous Cardassian representative NPC who Garak replaced, Rugan Skyl. The two opening speeches will overlap until Garak stops talking, as his speech is shorter.
- "Second Wave" suffers from a sporadic bug while defending the escaping shuttles, the second wave of enemy ships will not move away from the wormhole and won't advance towards DS9, if the player tries to engage them he will be immediately destroyed by the combined power of all warships
"Second Wave" is currently suffering a bug. The glitch makes the player unable to leave the conference room. Possible fix: go to shooter mode and shoot the door (possibly shooting at anything works), then back to RPG mode and you can leave.
- The Science optional does not show on the map. To obtain the Science objective, heal the security officer located in the first alcove on the right just after entering the "Escort VIPs to Your Ship" map. This security officer is different than the one used to get the Tactical objective.
There is a bug in which the game does not know which sound files to use, resulting in attempts to talk with NPCs results glitched loops of sound effects and incorrect audio. Talking to Ambassador S'taass has the chance to cause your game to crash entirely, though you cannot progress either way.- Do not approach the Conference Speaker before you have finished the three side missions, as it will halt further progress on those. This bug partially persists through dropping the quest and restarting it fresh, as it will prevent one from speaking to Quark about the holosuites.
