Game Description[ | ]

Unlike normal beam weapons, this weapon deals Kinetic damage. Shields drastically reduce the effects of kinetic damage.
The Kinetic Cutting Beam is not compatible with most beam-related Captain and Bridge Officer powers, such as Beam Array Overload and Fire At Will. It also gains no benefit from Console - Tactical - Directed Energy Distribution Manifold, despite the Manifold claiming to enhance all beam weapons. However, the Kinetic Cutting Beam enables additional damage to be caused by Assimilated Tractor Beam, the 3-piece set bonus from the Assimilated Borg Technology set, and its kinetic damage can be particularly useful for point defense against enemy heavy projectiles. There is a limit of one Kinetic Cutting Beam per ship.
