The admin noticeboard[]
The admin noticeboard is intended as a way to alert administrators of issues which need their attention.
This page is intended to assist in wiki administration, and to provide a centralized location for protection, unprotection and undeletion requests.
Note that this is not a talk page, and administrators will periodically clean out old issues and requests and may replace unnecessarily long posts with more concise versions. Use the talk page for lengthy comments or discussions.
To create a new request, add a new subheading and provide a neutral, concise, and signed summary of the issue. It is suggested that any other users involved in an issue should be informed of its discussion here. New sections go on the bottom.
Display Name Change Request[]
So I botched setting my display name. I accidentally typed the wrong thing in and would like to request the ability to change.
- You should be able to change it again now. And please remember to sign with ~~~~ in the future. — oOeyes 22:29, 21 May 2013 (UTC)
Outdated skills[]
User:Ericphail pointed the following out to me: "Quite a few abilities (Science Fleet and Engineering Fleet are some, I changed Photonic Shockwave Torpedo I'm sure there are others) have references in their description to outdated skills in both the modified by section and the ability ranks box, could they please be updated to current skills."
As I am not sure when I will find time to take care of this issue, I post it here. Have a nice New Year's Eve everyone! --Akira-sensei 10:32, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
Pet dot Com link blocker broken[]
Since STO Wiki's merge with Gamepedia, they've had a spam blocker that requires you to pick out cat photos whenever you add a link to a page. It worked fine up until December, but now it appears to be broken. No matter how many cat photos I pick it just repeats the cycle thus preventing me from adding any external links to STOwiki. - Peregrine Falcon (talk) 04:56, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
- We've verified the problem and I've sent it to the appropriate team for investigation. I'll leave an update when I know more. — oOeyes 14:47, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- I can also confirm this. An IP removed everything from User talk:Peregrine Falcon, and because the previous rev had external links in it, it prompted me with Asirra, which wouldn't confirm no matter how many times I did it.
- If we can't fix this right away, I suggest disabling it temporarily, because this bug could easily be abused maliciously; we'd be helpless without an admin to revert it (if they even can). KarikaCommunicator 16:41, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, if there isn't a quick fix, I'll request Asirra be disabled for the time being. — oOeyes 16:55, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your quick response to this! I'll keep checking back to see when this is resolved, as I always have more links to add. :) - Peregrine Falcon (talk) 18:57, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Asirra should be working properly now. Let me know you experience any further problems. — oOeyes 19:41, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Everything seems to be working fine now. Added a link without issue. Thanks! - Peregrine Falcon (talk) 09:48, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Was that system (Asirra?) shut off? I added a link to my page today and was not prompted to pick a cat picture. - Peregrine Falcon (talk) 07:44, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- It's still running, but adjustments have been made so it doesn't trigger for all users anymore, just newer ones. — oOeyes 17:16, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Candidates for deletion[]
This is a reminder to myself or another admin to go through Category:Candidates for deletion and Category:Articles_for_speedy_deletion when they have a good moment. — Eyes 23:38, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Dyson Joint Command Rep Rollback Required[]
Decided to help with the site, and to add in some of the Delta Rising rep gear. I did this by using the Dyson Joint Command Page, altering it, with the intent to copy it to an already created page for the new Delta Rising stuff. Stupidly, I clicked the save button (see what what it would look like) thus overwriting the Dyson stuff. I can't find a rollback (though I'd imagine there is one somewhere?) Sorry for the mishap. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flash525 (talk · contr)
- I've resaved the revision of Dyson Joint Command Technologies that existed before you made any edits. It's possible to do this yourself by clicking History for any page, where you can view any old version of a page and save them if necessary. You can also use the "undo" links next to each entry. Welcome to the wiki, and happy editing. — oOeyes 20:52, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- Thank You for the save, and the information regarding the history/undo feature. I'll bare that in mind for the future (though hopefully I'll not need to worry again). I have finished the base for the Delta Alliance Assault Space Set though having looked over the Sets Page I think I'm going to struggle, if I don't end up making another huge mess again. Is there an easy way to link the new page up - or to rename the actual page (I notice that it's listed on the site (though the linked page doesn't exist) as Delta Alliance Assault, whereas I have just created it as Delta Alliance Set. If I could change the page name (URL) then in theory, it should link on the searches. Thanks! --Flash525 (talk) 21:06, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- Pages can be moved (which is the same thing as a rename), but there isn't any kind of copy feature. Still, all you have to do is type a new page name in the search box. Just above the results, you should see something like "Create the page "[page name here]" on this wiki! See also the search results found." You can click the red link and then just copy the text from the other page into the new one. — oOeyes 21:25, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
- Noted. I'll move this along seeing as the initial issue has been resolved.--Flash525 (talk) 21:44, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Delta Alliance Assault Space Set Page[]
Following the advice of oOeyes, I have copied my created page from here, to here. I've completed it best I can, though some icons are still missing for the Ancient Powers Cells and Delta Marks respectively. There is also no link yet between the Delta Alliance Assault page, and the Sets Page. I think that's beyond me. Might I request that the first page (this one) be removed, seeing as it no longer holds a purpose. Also, is it possible to view/delete uploaded images anywhere? Many Thanks! --Flash525 (talk) 21:42, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
Recent mass image upload[]
I'm extremely worried about a mass image upload that seems to be going on. I've looked at the images and most of them are images already on the site or just promo pictures. Can we delete some of these? --SFC3 (talk) 01:29, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Outdated link[]
The link in the See Also section on the page at http://sto.gamepedia.com/List_of_Reputation_System_projects#See_also is no longer valid
Update Romulan Ship Table[]
Please update the table on the Romulan Playable Starship page to include the new Baratan, Deihu, and Vastam Command Battle-cruisers. The table does not appear editable by regular users. See: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Romulan_playable_starship
Ship Shield Stats Broken[]
On the Voth Bastion Flight-Deck Cruiser page, one of the shield stats are missing. This causes an error to display prominently amongst the other stats. see: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Voth_Bastion_Flight-Deck_Cruiser
Template separators[]
The Shiptypeinfo template has a separator in form of a paragraph with a line break inserted after tacconsoles, engconsoles and sciconsoles properties. However, I would like to append some information before that line break, and I can't seem to be able to do it. I would appreciate help in that regard.

Foundry mission lists not updating[]
I recently added pages in the Foundry section for several Foundry missions. These pages did publish successfully; however they're not showing up in the "Most Recently Added Missions" lists (which are not user-editable) on the Foundry portal page. (Specifically, three of the new pages are for Romulan missions, but the Romulan list is still empty.) The new pages are:
- Foundry:Valley of the Shadow I (ST-HBHYV0LP6)
- Foundry:Valley of the Shadow II (ST-HLAM39YR6)
- Foundry:Valley of the Shadow III (ST-HNDYF3PDR)
- Foundry:Trouble In Paradise (ST-HA4QUWNST)
- They were expecting Romulan missions to be specified as "Romulan Republic". I've changed {{ugcinfo}} so it now treats Romulan and Romulan Republic as the same, and all the missions are appearing now. — oOeyes 22:16, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
A couple issues since the update[]
Template:Infobox is being drawn closer to the left side of the article than it used to be, crowding any opening text and leaving a large gap on the right side of the article.
Template:Boffinfo is now positioning the infobox under the opening text, next to the table of contents. It seems to be moving any images included with the opening text down there, too. Shows differently in previews than in the actual article.
It's very difficult to move a page right now because it's using black text on a black background, with white text on white for the namespace selection box. --SubcommanderKinanra (talk) 21:55, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- I've added clear: right to the item infobox so that it will pushed down below the ad space like other infoboxes.
- The bofficon issue is due to the changes to the ad space that now cause it to show as an empty space for adblock users. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'm not authorized to reverse those changes. I believe we're going to be filling that area with a request to turn off adblock in the future, assuming plans don't change, and before anyone says anything, I'll just say I agree it's silly to start with an empty space.
- The move page should be fixed now. I didn't realize it didn't specify adequate defaults, or I would have hit it in my first pass. — oOeyes 21:56, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you. Re: Ad space, is that also why icons are being pushed down a few sections? Is it cool to use a {{clear}} at the top of an article to line everything up below the ad? The boff articles look awful right now. --SubcommanderKinanra (talk) 23:17, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
- Well, it's because of the ad space plus the color icons being in the code after boffinfo. Rather than using clear, I suggest moving the coloricons above boffinfo. That seems to prevent them from being affected by boffinfo's position. — oOeyes 00:26, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. I only placed the icons after the boffinfo template because every other article was set up that way. Good to know it's an easy fix, doing that and not having columns for the space and ground abilities gets the articles looking good again :) --SubcommanderKinanra (talk) 00:45, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
Admin attention[]
Current & upcoming events section on the main page is outdated. It is the first page so it doesn't give a good impression to visitors. Also, spam articles come up from time to time. Could those tagged for deletion be reviewed and removed, so we can keep it clean. Same for articles that were tagged for deletion because of typo or some other reason. Just looking into ways on how to improve things. Thanks. --Damixon (talk) 13:02, 5 November 2016 (UTC)
Info Box Colors for several factions missing[]
As far as I know, regular wiki contributor cannot add new info box colors for new factions. Tzenkethi, Sphere Builders, Vorgon, Lukari and Na'kuhl pages all still have regular light-blue color in their info boxes. Can someone change this? Thanks. --PiralDorrm (talk) 21:29, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

.. and also all pages with "/de" suffix since there is a separate german language wiki.
- Done. Well, I'm not 100% sure about /de subpages since it looks like they were removed from/never in the DE translation categories, and I don't know that a search for "/de" actually returns all of them. But I got those I found. — oOeyes 09:22, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
Policies[]
So, while digging around the wiki, I realized that our Policies Page is... well, quite incomplete. Not to mention somewhat difficult to find. I propose that there be a wiki-wide discussion on the creation of policies that we do not have, expansion and/or revision of the ones we do, and brainstorming of possible policies users would like to see implemented. Also, we should really have a link to the policies page from the main page, to make it easier to find. Perhaps we could model it off of Wikipedia's policy page? Shadowslasher410 (talk) 19:24, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
- I agree, we should update those missing policies. From what I got, there should be a vote process for things like that. Policies could be added next to guidelines on the main nav window. --Damixon (talk) 13:55, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
Terran LINKED Weapons[]
Capitalization has been changed ingame. Somebodys bot probably should go through the hundreds of instances where it still says Terran LINKED and replace it with Terran Linked. --Dukedom (talk) 07:06, 9 August 2019 (UTC)
Request for temporary deletion powers[]
So, I'm starting to rename some pages and was going to move some over redirects due to a change in plans on article names, when I learned that you cannot move pages over redirects if the redirect has any edit history or if it was created outside the rename progress. This has halted my plans, and I don't feel comfortable throwing this work onto someone else. I would therefore like to request for the temporarily ability to delete pages so I can delete these redirects and move the ship pages to that title when there's a conflict preventing me from doing so. I would restrict my deletions to only that, and let you guys know when I'm all done (and I'd go fast). Is this at all possible? DanPMK (talk) 01:28, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hey, I don't have the ability to assign you to a different user group. OOeyes can. I'll send him a message. --PiralDorrm (talk) 06:43, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hello. You're now a temporary administrator. Congratulations! — oOeyes 09:04, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Categories not being updated?[]
I've been updating pages for bridge officers recently, and noticed that the corresponding categories being assigned and linked at the bottom of each page aren't in turn being updated when a new page is created. In checking some of them, they don't appear to have been updated since 2012-2013, which seems... odd. For example, page "Assignment: Achievement: Bridge Officer (Very Rare)" doesn't appear in any of the categories listed at the bottom of its page. I'm admin of another Gamepedia wiki, just tested the feature there, and it appears to work on that one. Is the automatic category assignment/update feature broken or disabled here? –– Unscjon117 (talk) 11:29, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I have noticed the same thing with ship articles, 6 days ago. Newly created pages do not seem to appear in categories or under search results. I contacted Eyes, but no reply so far. --Damixon (talk) 07:48, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- I apologize. This came in on a busy day and slipped my mind. This isn't an issue I can directly address, but can usually be solved by requesting refreshLinks to be run. You can keep track of the ticket I've filed here. You can also file tickets yourself should this issue recur in the future if you create a Gitlab account. — oOeyes 11:54, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Minor Homepage Edit request[]
Hey, just wanted to say that the RSS feeds on the Arc website are dead right now meaning the RSS bit on the wiki homepage doesn't display anything. Since they're just wasted space right now, I was wondering if one of the admins could make each heading a link to the news feeds (so e.g 'XB1 Developer Blogs' would link here). -RadioActivitii (talk) 10:34, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
UCP migration issues[]
I don't know which of these are intended, fixable, or not fixable, but here's what I've seen since UCP:
- Search is not working properly. The search link from empty pages with "You can search for this page title in other pages" doesn't work, and some search functions like "insource:" no longer work.
- Unregistered users cannot edit templates.
- Redirects cannot be edited; trying to edit one edits the destination page.
I realize that a platform migration is a big thing, so this is just a heads-up to let you know. 176.127.193.241 12:19, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- I saw an announcement that some issues were fixed recently, can you check if issues you mentioned are still there? --Damixon (talk) 22:56, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
- All four issues still exist 176.127.193.241 07:34, 14 October 2020 (UTC)
- The search link from empty pages and redirect issue already have tickets filed. (The redirect issue is limited to logged-out users.)
- The UCP search does not support insource. There has been some discussion about implementing it or some alternative, but as far as I know, there hasn't been any final decision made on that. One of the downsides of merging our ~2,000 Gamepedia wikis onto the same platform as ~200,000 Fandom wikis is that it just wasn't feasible to use the same search solution. I believe this is due to how long it takes to build the search indexes, which long time editors might remember taking days or weeks whenever they needed to be regenerated. Now imagine that a hundredfold.
- As for the template editing issue, I'll check into whether that was intentional. I don't think so, but I'll see. SBEyes (talk) 02:23, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the update. Insource was a very useful tool for performing useful searches on a template-heavy wiki like this one, so I hope a solution comes about soon. 176.127.193.241 14:36, 15 October 2020 (UTC)
- Just checking in to see if there's been any developments on these issues, specifically editing templates for unlogged users. 176.127.193.241 13:39, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- I had a difficult time getting a definitive answer on the template editing issue, but it's the norm on Fandom, and I finally have confirmation that bringing it over was intentional. So, unfortunately, it would seem to be the new normal going forward.
- The redirect issue was fixed, and I just verified that myself.
- It sounds like the search issue will be addressed in a batch of planned search improvements ahead, but there isn't a timeline set for this.
- As for insource, I think Special:TagsReport is the intended alternative. I did learn one of the problems with insource is that it needs it own search index, and it seems that was deemed too much overhead to support the feature, so TagsReport is probably the best we're going to get. SBEyes (talk) 20:33, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the reply. The Edit button for the visual editor does actually work for editing redirect text; this fact had eluded me since I rather prefer source editing. The Edit Source button and History function still do not function on a redirect page but it's not a large issue. I'm quite disappointed to hear that the template locks are here to stay, and I hope that will be subject to review in the future. I'll try to familiarise myself with TagsReport in the meantime and I look forward to the upcoming search improvements. 176.127.193.241 21:19, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Trouble with the rigid templates[]
I tried to merge all Resonating Tetryon Weapons together into https://sto.gamepedia.com/Resonating_Tetryon_Weapons_(Space) using past contributions. However, the template requires to include Cannon and Dual Cannons, even if such don't exist. I also had problems with the very rigid modifiers template, with no workaround possible. So I pasted everything and tried to edit some of the text but some parts are duplicated. Could someone have a look at it?
I had a similar issue with the Piercing Tetryon Weapons (no beam array, cannon nor dual heavy cannons), with an extra problem that the first user who created the page misnamed it as Dual Cannon (no s), which further complicates things as I can't seem to be able to rename the mislabelled icon. https://sto.gamepedia.com/Piercing_Tetryon_Weapons_(Space) Could someone have a look at it?
I also tried to include those in the Tetryon navigation template, but the template relies on other templates and tables that are a pain to figure out, and possibly risky to manipulate. Could someone do that?
Including a special Custom value for those templates which would allows us to manually edit the fields would help a lot, as well as removing the mandatory values, as the Lockbox weapons come in all types, but not the special weapons from old missions.
Thanks. Lexers615 (talk) 08:43, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, I have done some changes to the Sw overlay template to make it friendly with the Resonating and Piercing tetryon weapons. Can you check the pages now, and suggest any additional changes. -Damixon (talk) 15:13, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks! I fine tuned the redirect links in the mission pages. Could you also update the Sw Nav template to add the Resonating and Piercing Tetryon to the Tetryon nav tab? Right now it only includes * Standard Tetr * Destabilizing * Diffusive * Phased * Refracting
