Discussion[]

The Simulation channel was removed. I made this channel private because there where so much reports from trolls in the channel and making problems for everyone and also on the Simulations, that we are now trying to keep these trolls out. The only way this works is to make the channel private. But it is still open for everyone to join, same as the channel that is called TheTradingChannel. This channel was also public but because of trolls it is made private. You still allow this because players can still join it. The same also with the Simulation. It was public, but because of the troll activity and the reports we get, we needed to make it private. But this is also a test if it works or not. So if you are removing the Simulation channel again, then I also want to ask you to remove TheTradingChannel.

Here is also a link where I explain about why we made the channel private for two weeks: http://stosims.com/news_entries/417454

Thank you very much and I will hear from you.

I'm personally ok with both Simulation and TheTradingChannel being listed there, it is fair that both are treated equally. Maybe we can add a small tag "invite via pm", or make a separate table below if needed. What do others think? --Damixon (talk) 15:07, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your response and we are grateful you understand the situation. --:Maikel 23:21, 12 February 2018 (UTC+01:00)

Tuffli drama[]

There still seems to be a minor chatchannel skirmish between 'Call Tuffli' and 'Public Service' going on, including generous use of the undo function on related pages (i.e. Tuffli Class Freighter). At this point I would suggest removing any notes section referring to both of the channels outside of the Global Channel Directory with a friendly suggestion to both parties to stop their edit skirmishes before some admin has to do it... permanently. ,) --Dukedom 09:26, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Just as a note or two, I've joined the discussion here, offered a compromise, and given fair warning about further edit warring. Eyes User-Eyes-Sig 11:04, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Mine Enemy Bug[]

Hi, I'm trying to complete the "Mine Enemy" episode, but once I open the hidden door and defeat the chancellor, nothing happens. He doesn't talk to me and I can't obtain the code to progress. Could someone take care of this soon, or am I missing something?

They weekend was terrible as far as the server goes I was logged out constantly and lost several items. I love all the new Content that the staff provides and I think it GREAT. But I for one wouldn't mind waiting for new content as long as the server is updated properly to match the game play. This is the only game with server issues and no other Game had any issues. and I followed all the helpful hints and nothing improved. I made sure I grinded a new character out to level 50 to take advantage of Crystalline entity event. Only to see my chance of completing it dwindle away because I couldn't take part in it when it first started. I would have been able to reach my goal had the server been more stable this weekend.

Best regards

Stevvi1

Galaxy map with an arrow indicating the system location[]

Moved to Project talk:Community portal

Multi-Vector Assault Mode hasn't worked for me for 2 years...since delta release.(but it used to).. its splits, then the other vectors just fly off and vanish.. Have reported it in-game many times with no response... Is anyone else having this issue? Its the largest reason i stopped playing since spending actual money on something that no longer works is depressing.

Issues with new skin?[]

There seem to be a number of issues with the new skin; haven't noticed this posted elsewhere.

- Special:Achievements doesn't appear to be linked on a user's page/profile any longer
- When accessing Special:Achievements manually, the heading links appear to be broken (missing or don't do anything).
- When accessing something like Special:Achievements#category=logging-in it appears to hang... indefinitely.
Edit 9-14-2018 @ 6:57a ET: No longer hangs, but also doesn't display the info for the "Logging In" tab, either - just displays the "Make Edits" info.
- Foreground text and background colors appear to be the same in some areas, including what's supposed to be a descriptive/instruction box on the page for submitting to the noticeboard (white text on a white background).

Please review and address. Thanks!

What do you mean by new skin? Is that the default sto wiki skin? Also, make sure you clear you cache as it happened to me once that I was seeing mobile wiki skin while checking it from my pc - it had all kind of issues. Can you give an example of white text on white background, on what page do you see this? --Damixon (talk) 15:03, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
There's been no skin change for probably about seven years, other than minor modifications to address issues caused by MediaWiki upgrades. Additionally, I can't confirm most of the above.
  • I did notice a button with light text on light background that wasn't picking up the STO styles. I fixed that.
  • In the mobile view only, I can confirm scripts and site-specific styles aren't loading: only the MediaWiki defaults are coming in and headings are indeed not working because of the scripts not loading. But I've confirmed this problem on several Gamepedia wikis, so it's not skin-related. It also means I have to bump it up to dev.
That said, while there's a different color scheme, it all seems to be dark text on light instead. I can't confirm any of the profile issues or hanging issues.
I need more information to investigate further: are you browsing on a mobile device? Which browser are you using? Is it desktop or mobile view you're viewing? (If you're in mobile view, you should see either a "Desktop" link at the bottom. If you're in the desktop view, you should see a "Mobile view" link instead.) oOeyes User-Eyes-Sig 00:08, 15 September 2018 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I had this or a similar issue once as well during my recent long template editing session. A single time I hit Page Preview, it loaded the wrong/broken skin. Refreshing the page fixed it, so maybe it was a hiccup on Gamepedia's end. DanPMK (talk) 00:24, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

I'm *guessing* it's the default sto wiki skin; haven't changed what mine is set to, not sure where I'd do that anyway (or why - haven't had any issues with the default until now). Cleared cache, reloaded page, doesn't seem to make a difference. Example of white text on white bg = this page itself when editing: "Editing STOWiki talk:Admin noticeboard (section)" - there's a header/heading box above the editing box that contains the text "This page is not enabled for semantic in-text annotations due to namespace restrictions. Details about how to enable the namespace can be found on the configuration help page.", which isn't readable unless you do a select all which highlights it. If there's "been no skin change for probably about seven years", then something else has changed, and I'm not sure what that would be (maybe CSS?). It seems all the pages that were displaying content in multiple columns (including the main page) now only display a single column. By comparison, the Disney Infinity Wiki loaded in a different tab in the same browser window hasn't changed its behavior, which is what led me to believe the issues are related directly to the STO wiki. For reference, (desktop) browser user agent string obtained from browser's Develop menu: "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_13_6) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/11.1.2 Safari/605.1.15". Unscjon117 (talk) 12:04, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Like the left image or the right image below?
Sto desktop Sto mobile
If it's the right, you somehow switched to the mobile view, or maybe the auto-detection glitched. Either way, the solution remains the same. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Desktop" link above "About Star Trek Online Wiki". oOeyes User-Eyes-Sig 19:19, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

Ah(hggghhhh!!!!!)... managed to miss that completely. I'll go with glitched, but either way, that seems to have taken care of it - it appears to be back to normal. Thanks! Unscjon117 (talk) 10:51, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Extensions[]

Hey, I was wondering if it was possible for this extension to be added to the wiki? I'm not sure if there's a proper place to request stuff like this so sorry if it's in the wrong place. - RadioActivitii (talk) 19:03, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

Is that the same one used by the FNAF wiki? That one uses it to very good effect, we could do some interesting things with it here. DanPMK (talk) 22:01, 20 September 2018 (UTC)
Or something on Gamepedia, from the DOTA 2 wiki, which uses subpages for it. DanPMK (talk) 01:48, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
It's in the queue for installation. May happen tonight or tomorrow. IIRC, it needs some styling to match the skin as well, which I'll try to check on ASAP after it gets installed. oOeyes User-Eyes-Sig 00:15, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

Tables on Mobile[]

It looks like the default table style the wiki usually uses (seen here) doesn't work on either iOS or Android devices. Using custom colours and stuff works fine (aka the bottom row of that example table), just not the default stuff. Not sure if it's been brought up at all, but still worth mentioning. -RadioActivitii (talk) 01:24, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

Should be fixed now. oOeyes User-Eyes-Sig 06:02, 16 October 2018 (UTC)
