Starship Warp Core Efficiency is a Tier 2 Engineering skill available to all Starfleet and KDF Lieutenant Commanders. Each increment of this skill costs 1,500 skillpoints.

Details

This skill improves all your ship's subsystems power levels under certain conditions. The lower your power level in any given subsystem, the more of a bonus you get in that subsystem from this skill. This skill grants no bonus to a subsystem whose power level is at or above 75.

Due to the way in which this skill applies its bonus (only when a subsystem power level is at less than 75, increasing incrementally the lower the current power level in that subsystem), Captains should weigh up carefully the value of this skill before committing large numbers of skill points to it. Only subsystems which consistently run at low power levels will receive a worthwhile bonus.

Abilities Affected

None directly.

Rank Progression

Rank Bonus Gain (@15%) Gain (@50%)
1 +18 2.025 0.84375
2 +36 4.05 1.6875
3 +54 6.075 2.53125
4 +64 7.2 3
5 +74 8.325 3.46875
6 +84 9.45 3.9375
7 +89 10.0125 4.171875
8 +94 10.575 4.40625
9 +99 11.1375 4.640625

... +200 22.5 9.375

Single Point Value: (Multiplier 0-12 per power type; (0-60)/5)

  • Every 1 point in Warp Core Efficiency = +0.001875 Bonus Power per 5 base power setting below 75 base power setting, or +0 - 0.0225 Bonus Power per power type /w +0.001875 intervals Bonus Power per point
  • Every 5 points in Warp Core Efficiency = +0.009375 Bonus Power per 5 base power setting below 75 base power setting, or +0 - 0.1125 Bonus Power per power type /w +0.009375 Bonus Power per 5 points
  • Every 53.3333.. Point in Warp Core Efficiency = +0.5 bonus power per 5 base power setting below 75
  • Every 106.6666.. Points in Warp Core Efficiency = +1 Bonus power per 5 base power setting below 75

Multi Point Value: (Multiplier 0-12 per power type; (0-60)/5)

  • At 100 points in Warp Core Efficiency, every 5 base power setting below 75 base power setting = +0.9375 Bonus Power, or +0 - 11.25 Bonus Power per power type /w +-0.9375 intervals
  • At 200 points in Warp Core Efficiency, every 5 base power setting below 75 base power setting = +1.875 Bonus Power, or +0 - 22.5 Bonus Power per power type /w +-1.875 intervals
  • At 106.666.. WCE, every 5 base power setting below 75 = 1 bonus power, or +0-12 Bonus Power per category/w +-1 intervals.
  • At 213.333... WCE, every 5 base power setting below 75 = 2 bonus power, or +0-24 Bonus Power per category /w +-2 intervals.

  • Note: (Correct if wrong!) If power was once capped at a minimum of 25 it was impossible for the total overall bonus to ever differ per one ship power settings setup to another from Warp Core Efficiency. It would always be 100 total power setting below 75 power setting over all 4 categories. This has now changes as you can go to 15, or below 25. This means focusing on two power types and maximizing them is now worth more WCE Bonus Power, producing 120 power below 75 in a setup with 15 power setting in two power types(this is not max). This allows greater max power in a single power type and more bonus power, when focusing on one or more power types, from WCE overall.

The above note is incorrect. Please correct and give examples of min max power levels bonuses from different power setups. And if possible the logic between differing ranges to explain different possible overal bonuses from differnt power setups.

Formula

The formula for the subsystem power bonus according to this post(outdated) is:

Subsystem Power Bonus = ( Skill Level / 533.3333... ) * ( 75 - Current Subsystem Power Setting )(current/corrected as of 10/7/2013)

Example: A skill level of 100 and a current subsystem power setting of 15 will produce an efficiency bonus of +11.25.
