A Special Bridge Officer is a bridge officer which is unique in some way. They are typically acquired in an atypical way, such as a mission reward, Zen Store purchase, or completion of a Reputation. Many special bridge officers officers cannot be customized at the Tailor.
In the tables below, space traits are given an orange outline, while ground traits are given an azure outline.
Characteristics[]
While standard bridge officers you can purchase for Energy credits or
Dilithium follow standard rules for available speecies and their corresponding bridge officer traits, special bridge officers are obtained in a variety of ways and generally have something unusual about their trait loadout. Many special bridge officers are of a species not normally obtainable as a bridge officer, such as the Ferasan bridge officers available from the Zen Store for Klingon-aligned captains, or the Overlooker Hierarchy Science/Intelligence Officer Candidate, or the Commendation bridge officers which are species normally only available for the opposing faction.
Unique traits[]
Most special bridge officers have something unusual about their trait loadout. For example, Andorian bridge officers are normally required to have both Acute Senses and
Cold Dwelling, but Tarsi, an Andorian officer obtained during the TOS Starfleet tutorial, lacks Cold Dwelling. Similarly, the Reman Tactical/Intelligence Officer Candidate, one of the Delta Rising Bridge Officers available for Romulan Republic captains on PC, has the
Superior Romulan Operative trait, normally reserved for Romulan-species bridge officers.
Another common difference with their traits is how many they possess at each quality. Normally, bridge officers have the following:
- Common officers have 2 Basic and 2 Standard traits
- Uncommon officers have 1 Basic and 3 Standard traits
- Rare officers have 1 Basic, 2 Standard and 1 Superior traits
- Very Rare officers have 2 Standard and 2 Superior traits
However, some special bridge officers have loadouts that do not fit the above molds:
- Uncommon tutorial officers have 4 Standard traits, putting them a hair above the usual Uncommon boffs. Examples include
Zarva,
Ch'gren,
Veril,
Ixso'Rax,
Skavrin and
Tamav. The officers from the previous Starfleet and KDF tutorials had this same characteristic. The Very Rare Liberated Borg Romulan Science Officer shares this characteristic as well.
- The Rare officer
D'Vex, one of the Romulan Republic tutorial boffs, has 2 Basic, 1 Standard and 1 Superior traits, putting him between most Uncommon and Rare boffs.
- The Rare officers
Metama'Kagal and Virak'Agar, two of the Dominion tutorial boffs, have 3 Standard and 1 Superior traits, putting them a hair above the usual Rare boffs.
- The Very Rare
Photonic Engineering Officer Candidates, available as a Delta Recruitment reward, has 1 Basic, 1 Standard and 2 Superior traits. The
Klingon (TNG) Female Engineering Bridge Officer, only available for Klingon recruits, is the same.
- The Very Rare
Jem'Hadar Vanguard Bridge Officers are similar to the above Jem'Hadar officers, but their
Supeior Jem'Hadar Vitality trait is actually a combination of
Superior Stubborn and
Superior Peak Health, meaning they functionally have 3 Standard and 2 Superior traits, putting them above the usual Very Rare boffs.
- The Very Rare tutorial officers
Elisa Flores,
K'Gan and
Evelyn Savea have 1 Standard and 3 Superior traits, also putting them above the usual Very Rare officers. The corresponding officers from other factions—
Tovan Khev,
Tarsi,
Eko'Ixtan and Rem'Taral—do not share this characteristic.
- The Very Rare Romulan Bridge Officer available from the Fleet Embassy have 4 Superior traits, as does the Borg Science Bridge Officer Candidate.

Tutorial bridge officers[]
These bridge officers are acquired through completion of each faction's tutorial and early storyline missions. All of the Uncommon tutorial bridge officers are unique in that they have four Standard-tier traits, which is an impossible loadout on standard bridge officers you can obtain throughout the game. Some of the others have other unique qualities to them, noted on their pages.
The initial cadre of Dominion bridge officers are awarded on character creation as they do not go through a tutorial. Two of the bridge officers do however feature in the Dominion faction introductory missions “Hunt” and “Ceremony”.

Commendation[]
Upon reaching Rank 4 in the Diplomatic /
Marauding duty officer commendation category, players may claim a single special commendation officer. You may only claim and own one of these boffs, however dismissing it will allow you to reclaim another. These bridge officers, no matter whether obtained through Diplomacy or Marauding, are limited to their native-faction costume options (i.e. an Orion cannot wear a Starfleet uniform).
Federation-aligned players get their bridge officer from Jiro Sugihara upon reaching the Diplomatic rank of Ambassador, while Klingon-aligned players get theirs from Kazzgur upon reaching the Marauding rank of Marauder.

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 These bridge officers were given to characters whose in-game wealth was significantly devalued in the conversion to the dilithium economy introduced with Season 5. They are extremely rare and have the traits Space Warfare Specialist and Veteran, which are otherwise only found on D'Vex.
