In Star Trek Online Starfleet Merits were a form of currency and the Federation equivalent to Honor.
Starfleet Merits were earned by completing missions and had the following uses;
Characters[]
- Renaming - 1500 merits (note: does not include character short name)
- Respec - Reallocation of the character skill points
Starships[]
- Renaming - 3000 merits
- Adding a letter suffix to your NCC registry number (such as: NCC-98123-D) or changing the registry number - 1500 merits
Bridge Officers[]
- Purchasing new candidates and Bridge Officers
- Renaming - 3000 merits
- Promotions
- Training abilities
