With Alliance assistance from the Vulcans, the Romulan Republic engineered state-of-the-art science vessels. Like the Starfleet variants, Romulan Explorer Warbirds are very versatile, can load dual cannons and have a single hangar bay.
The Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird is among the most advanced starships within the Romulan fleet. Built upon the success of Starfleet's Aventine-class Multi-Mission Explorer, the Surhuelh class is designed for both reconnaissance and combat.
|SKIN UNLOCK: Galas Surveillance Explorer Warbird, 3,000 |
Vulcan influence is clearly visible in the design of all three Explorer Warbirds: aside from standard warp nacelles on the tips of ship's wings, all three ships feature an external singularity core, quite similar in design to the annular warp nacelle of the Vulcan D'Kyr-class Science Vessel.

Minor changes to the hull, such as sharper lines on the aft of ship's wings and hull section and slightly shorter warp nacelles, differentiate the Surhuelh class from the Galas-class Explorer. Its most distinctive feature, however, is that its singularity core "warp ring" is open.
|SKIN UNLOCK: Taenen Strategic Explorer Warbird, 3,000 |
The Taenen class has a slightly differently shaped head section when compared to the other two variants, and sports the shortest warp nacelles. A more prominent feather pattern is visible on the aft of the ship's wings.

The Surhuelh Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird comes equipped with the [Console - Universal - Radiation Bombardment Matrix].
This ability is part of the Alliance Multi-Mission Systems Set, which also includes [Console - Universal - Protomatter Field Projector], [Console - Universal - Omni-Directional Tachyon Wave Siphon] and [Console - Universal - Isometric Dispersal Array] obtainable with Lukari Ho'kuun Science Vessel (T6), Strategic Explorer Warbird (T6) and Surveillance Explorer Warbird (T6), but also equippable on the Surhuelh Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird. For each console added after the first, an additional passive bonus is unlocked.
The Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird features the following specialist seats:
- Lieutenant Commander Universal/Temporal Operative
The Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird has a battle cloak that allows the ship to cloak during combat, granting stealth and a damage bonus upon decloaking.
The Surhuelh Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird comes equipped with a single wing of Scorpion Fighters.
These light craft are equipped with fore Plasma Pulse Cannons and Plasma Torpedo Launcher.

- Carrier Command - Escort

Sensor Analysis is an active toggle ability. While maintaining a Sensor Lock on a target, the player gains a stacking effect that either improves the damage and power drain against an enemy, or improves any heal directed towards an ally. This effect stacks every 3 seconds, to a maximum of 6 stacks after 18 continuous seconds. To maintain the desired effect, the player must hold the sensor lock.
As a Romulan Warbird, the Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird comes with built-in Singularity abilities. These abilities do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Warbirds. These powers build in severity based on the charge built up by the ship's Singularity Core.
The Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird comes with built-in Subsystem Targeting abilities. These built-in abilities stay at Rank I and do not automatically rank up when acquiring higher tier Science starships. They are separate from Subsystem Targeting abilities gained through Tactical Space Bridge officer abilities.
- Target Auxiliary Subsystems I
- Target Weapons Subsystems I
- Target Engines Subsystems I
- Target Shields Subsystems I
Activating a subsystem targeting ability will upgrade all energy weapons to inflict a stacking power drain on the foe's targeted subsystem for the next 10 seconds. They will also have a small chance to knock the targeted subsystem offline for a short duration.
The Surhuelh Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird comes equipped with the unique [Aux Plasma Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XII]. The weapon's damage is calculated using the ship's Auxiliary Power level instead of Weapon Power, and they consume Auxiliary Power when fired. It can be claimed multiple times, but is limited to Explore Warbird variants.
Romulan starships come with standard equipment and weapons of the lowest mark available at the ship's minimum rank. The items provided are appropriate to the type of vessel and its related playing style.
This starship's equipment slots, base hull capacity and shield capacity scale as your level increases.
Equipment slots and seating
As you rank up every 10 levels, up to level 40, the ship's forward weapon slots, aft weapon slots, tactical console slots, engineering console slots, science console slots and available bridge officer (boff) abilities will slowly increase toward endgame capabilities:
This table shows how the ship's hull strength scales at each level. The base hull of all scaling starships is 10,000, which is then multiplied by the ship's hull modifier (0.95 for the Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird), and then multiplied by the scaling multiplier below at each level.

By using an [Experimental Ship Upgrade Token], the Surhuelh-class Reconnaissance Explorer Warbird may be upgraded to T6-X, unlocking an extra ship device slot, universal console slot, and the ability to slot an extra starship trait.
