The TR-116B Rifle - Sniper Rifle is the successor to the TR-116A Rifle - Sniper Rifle, and was introduced with the Crafting/R&D System revamp, released with Season 9.5 on July 21, 2014.

The item is obtainable through the R&D System, where it requires the associated Ground Weapons School to achieve Level 15 to unlock the crafting ability, plus the specified R&D Components, and an R&D School Duty Officer with Ground Weapons specialization.

Crafting guarantees acquiring at least the very rare Mk XII [4xShPen] [Dmg] version of the item, with some likelihood (increasing with the crafting skill) for an Ultra Rare version. It is account Bind on Equip, and therefore before it is equipped can be sold on the Exchange, Mailed or traded in-game.

This sniper rifle has a secondary fire mode that shoots a transported bolt at a single target dealing high damage with a good chance to knockback.

Rifle Bolt fires multiple chemically propelled tritanium bullets that inflict kinetic damage. This attack ignores shields.

The TR-116B Rifle is immune from Borg adaptation.

Sniper Shot fires a chemically propelled tritanium bullet that deals high kinetic damage with a chance to knock back. This attack ignores shields and can Exploit targets.

Modifiers[edit | edit source]

The TR-116B Rifle - Sniper Rifle can be crafted as either Very Rare or (with more crafting skill and luck) Ultra Rare Mark XII item. It comes with 5 pre-selected [4xShPen] [Dmg] modifiers, and another random 6th modifier ([CrtD], [CrtH], [Dmg] or [Run]). At Ultra Rare quality it will have the 7th random modifier.

[CrtD], [CrtH], [Dmg] modifiers can each be re-engineered into any other one of them, including a possibility for multiple modifiers (e.g. [Dmg]x3 is perfectly feasible on an Ultra Rare+ item). [4xShPen] modifier (and if present [Run] modifier) cannot be re-engineered.

At Epic quality, the Rifle will gain the 8th modifier, either [Dm/CrH], [Dm/CritD] or [CrtD/CrtH], which can be re-engineered into any one of the 3.

It is implied, that the Rifle comes with an inherent 20% shield penetration, like it's predecessor; in combination with the four equal [ShPen] modifiers (each adding +20% Shield Penetration), this stacks to the weapon's 100% Shield Penetration.

Gear Upgrade[edit | edit source]

The TR-116B Rifle - Sniper Rifle can be upgraded through the Gear Upgrade System, and requires Tech Upgrade Kits from the Ground Weapons School, or Universal Tech Upgrades.

  • The TR-116B is one of the few weapons the Borg cannot adapt to, due to dealing kinetic damage.
  • The TR-116B is also the only weapon at present to be able to completely bypass enemy personal shields without the aid of other powers.
