The Talarian Hook Spider is a large arachnid species native to Talarian space.

Habitat[ | ]

Besides their native environment, Talarian Hook Spiders dwell in dark and remote areas of starships and space stations. One group of this species nests on the lower decks of Drozana Station.

Talarian Hook Spiders are large arachnids with dark-magenta colored bodies. The dorsal abdomen and pedicel both have a yellow-brown colored horizontal banding that has a metallic sheen. There are black points on their eight walking legs. There are eight eyes on the cephalothorax; two major and six minor. There are two large pedipalps with sharp superior projections from each segment with the largest on the patella. There are two red colored maxillae and no chelicerae.

They react aggressively towards incursion into their territory, as do many other large spiders.

Talarian Hook Spider non-combat pet can be unpacked from the [Ground Non-Combat Pet - Talarian Hook Spider]. Crate containing the spider can be obtained from the [Ground Non-Combat Pet Pack - Arachnid Companion‎] by purchasing it from the Lobi store for 30Lobi Crystal icon, or from the Exchange.

Item description: Non-combat pet. The Talarian Hook Spider is an unusually intelligent arachnid-like lifeform that has perpetuated to many different worlds in the Alpha quadrant due to being a somewhat reliable and controllable form of natural pest control. Although poisonous and deadly pack animals when encountered in the wild, this particular spider has been genetically modified to be unaggressive and non-poisonous.

  • Talarian Hook Spiders were the first arachnid critters to appear in the game.
  • They were first mentioned in the TNG episode "Realm of Fear", where Miles O'Brien talks about an encounter with 20 specimen in a Jeffries Tube.
