Targs are a mammalian, quadrupedal species native to Qo'noS. The Klingons have tamed and bred targs for millennia. They are kept as pets, trained for combat by targ Handlers and as livestock - parts of their body can be used for food (e.g. Klingon Heart of Targ and Glazed Targ), and for commodities, such as Klingon Targ Milk, while their fur is worn due to its warmth and insulation properties (e.g. targ Fur Earmuffs).
The Targ model design was remastered as part of Year of Klingon.
Habitat[]
Wild targs can be found in the Ketha Lowlands, a temperate area on Qo'noS. In addition, war targs accompany KDF-Officers to combat zones, tolerating a wide range of climatic varieties, including ice deserts and arid worlds.
Characteristics[]
Targs share visual similarities with Terran wild boars but sport additional spikes at the sides of their head and along the back. Furry coat covers the front half. Targs have a tail and hoofs. There are no visual differences between wild and war targs. Like warriguls, targs live in packs. Being mammalians, adult targs lactate cubs.
