Taurus II is the inhabited second planet of its star system. The system is located in Murasaki 312, a quasar-like phenomena which Starfleet was studying in the 23rd century. The planet was home to species of physically strong anthropoids at a Stone Age level of development. (TOS: "The Galileo Seven")
History
In 2267, shuttlecraft Galileo from the USS Enterprise crash landed on the planet. Its crew, including Commander Spock, Lt Commander Montgomery Scott, Dr. Leonard McCoy and Ensign Mears made contact with the native inhabitants, who proved aggressive. After the loss of some personnel, the landing party was recovered.(TOS: "The Galileo Seven")
Ensign Mears visited the planet once again a few years later as part of the crew of the player's starship, searching for a lost science vessel. Because of the planet's atmosphere, the Captain orders the player to take a landing party to the surface. ( “I Sing of Arms”) Mears joins the player as they recover the science team but uncover a Klingon plot to lure ships into a trap inside the Murasaki phenomena. ( “Bull by the Horns”)
