With a population of trillions spreading over hundreds of worlds, the Tkon Empire was a massive advanced empire that existed over 600,000 years ago. It had the ability to move entire star systems but collapsed when the central star of its home system went supernova.
In 2364, the Enterprise-D found a "portal" in the Delphi Ardu System, once errected by the Tkon as guardian to defend one of its outposts and to act as one of many gatekeepers for those seeking entry to the Empire.
In 2408, a Federation survey team discovered ruins believed to be from the time of the Tkon Empire on Tostig II. A new research station is being constructed for a long-term study of the site.
Recently, there have also been reports of Tkon artifacts being found in the Tephrei System.
