Inspired by Borg technology rather than merely a copy of it, this system improves upon the original design. Borg ships can devote their processing power to sudden distributed maintenance, but must shut down many functions to do so. By cross-training crew members and dynamically distributing emergent repair tasks among different disciplines, certain shipwide repairs can be accomplished without shutdown or even commitment of personnel.
